Buttermilk Breakfast

Buttermilk Pancakes
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
Beat egg. Add the remaining ingredients in order listed. Beat with a wire whisk until smooth. Then they are ready to make.
Buttermilk Syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 stick margarine
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
Bring margarine, sugar, and buttermilk to a boil. Turn off heat and add remaining ingredients. Get a really tall pan because it will foam up. Make syrup just before you serve the pancakes because the foam will slowly disperse and the foam is the best part!
Cherry-On-Top
  • I use a fork to mix the batter.
  • To have the syrup and the pancakes hot and ready have someone else make the syrup while you make pancakes.
  • Makes 6 small pancakes and lots of syrup!
  • Surprise someone with this delicious breakfast!
